In both cases, the suspect or suspects are visible on surveillance video. The two clips may be viewed in the player above. Police say there is no indication that the two incidents are related.

The first incident reportedly happened just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday at a hardware store located at 165 S. Main Street. The surveillance footage shows a man and a woman exiting a white Toyota pickup truck and walking across the parking lot toward the store.

Cedar City Police Sgt. Clint Pollock said the pair are suspected to have stolen a backpack blower from the business.

Anyone who may recognize the two individuals or their vehicle or who may have information about the alleged theft is asked to call Cedar City Police at 435-586-2956 and ask for Corporal Condie, referencing case number C21-03380.

The second incident happened early Sunday morning at about 2:12 a.m. in front of the Golden Corral restaurant at 1379 S. Main Street, which has been closed for the past year and a half.

Black-and-white footage taken by a security camera appears to show a dark four-door passenger sedan turning off Main Street and into the parking lot, whereupon one person exits the passenger side of the car and goes over to a nearby sign mounted on two poles near the sidewalk.

Cedar City Police say the report on the theft indicated that the sign was advertising the reopening and hiring of new employees at the Golden Corral. The person appears to detach the sign, then take it over to the car and put it inside. The car is then driven away.

Those with information about the second case are asked to call Cedar City Police at 435-586-2956 and ask for Officer Mackelprang, referencing case number C21-03423.

This report is based on information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
