ST. GEORGE — As host of “What’s on the Menu,” Sheldon Demke has visited some unique and exotic places to eat, but Aragosta Restaurant, a fine dining establishment in St. George, might be the most elegant of them all.
Demke and his friend Laura Hirschi dressed in their Sunday best and paid a visit to the restaurant’s recently expanded location in The BellTower Courtyard. Aragosta Restaurant offers contemporary American and fine European menu selections, complete with wine pairings.

“Aragosta” is the Italian word for lobster, and many of the restaurant’s signature dishes revolve around the crustacean. Demke and Hirschi started with a “small” lobster that would easily surpass the largest offering at many other eateries.
“It was thick and delicious, and he prepares it in such a way where I believe the hand of God has touched it!” Demke exclaimed.
Chef Imi Kun is the heart and soul of Aragosta Restaurant. A native of Hungary, Kun trained as a master chef in Europe and has served an impressive roster of notable names that includes royalty and former U.S. presidents. He fell in love with the red rocks of St. George while visiting Utah with a cultural tour group decades ago and returned to start his own restaurant.
Following the lobster, Demke and Hirschi sampled the New Zealand rack of lamb served with mint sauce, something which Demke said might be his new favorite dish. The duo also sampled Kun’s take on salmon, exquisitely prepared and flavored.
Of course, Kun couldn’t let them leave without offering a platter filled with decadent desserts. Chocolate mousse! Apple strudel! Sticky toffee!
“So absolutely wonderful and not super sweet,” Hirschi said. “That way, you can have all of it.”
