UPDATED: Amber Alert cancelled after infant found safe

ST. GEORGE — The Amber Alert issued for infant who was abducted out of West Jordan has been cancelled after the baby was found safe.

Updated Aug. 6, 2021, 140 p.m.: The abducted infant was located shortly before noon on Friday, according to the West Jordan Police Department.

The Amber Alert issued by the West Jordan Police Department was cancelled after authorities found the child who was safely reunited with her family, while the suspect accused of abducting the child, Yorbalinda Vargas, was arrested without incident.

The Amber Alert was issued after the 5-month-old infant, Nora Nelson, was abducted in West Jordan shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday by Vargas, her mother. The suspect was driving a white Jeep Grand Cherokee.

“The suspect was taken safely into custody without incident. We wish to thank the media and public for their assistance,” West Jordan police announced on social media.
