According to the red flag warning, parts of Washington, Kane and Garfield counties could see west winds from 10-20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. Humidity will be as low as 11%.

These factors together are considered “critical fire weather conditions,” according to the National Weather Service-Salt Lake City office, which added that “any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly.” The red flag warning is scheduled Saturday from noon to 9 p.m.

The winds will also usher in a cold front from late Saturday through Monday, with temperatures statewide expected to be at least 20 degrees colder than normal for the first part of the week and snow in the forecast Sunday night into Monday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting the following:

St. George will experience temperatures as low as 35 degrees overnight Sunday, as well as a 50% chance of snow, with accumulations up to a half inch. Monday will see a high of only 48, with intermittent snow showers for another possible half inch.

Cedar City temperatures will drop as low as 20 degrees Sunday night with a 60% chance of snow, with accumulations up to 4 inches. Monday will see a high just above freezing at 33 degrees, with a 60% chance of another half inch of snow.

Temperatures in Southern Utah are forecasted to be much lower until at least the middle of the week.
