ST. GEORGE — It’s super. It’s chicken. It’s grilled over mesquite charcoal, tender and moist. It’s chicken so good they have to say it in a different language. It’s Super Pollo.
In this episode of “What’s on the Menu” super host Sheldon Demke takes his super sister Marian to one of Southern Utah’s newest eateries in town.
“Super Pollo hasn’t been around very long,” Sheldon said. “But I can already tell, they’re going to do great.”

Grilled over mesquite charcoal, their myriad chicken dishes are heavenly. At least that is what Marian said.
“Oh my gosh, the chicken was my favorite,” she said. “Falls off the bone, insane. … I would come back just for the chicken alone.”
Next the siblings sampled the pork ribs with a dry rub that tickled the What’s on the Menu host’s fancy.
“Wow, that mesquite charcoal has me dancing,” he said.
Super Pollo owner Luis Laguna said he loves everything about being part of Super Pollo, especially the fresh food.
“We cook that every day,” Laguna said.
In addition to the chicken and ribs, Super Pollo, which originated in Chihuahua, Mexico, and is located in St. George at 720 E. 700 South, also has a fresh salsa bar, tacos and a corn on the cob dish the likes of which the Demkes have never seen: the famous Chihuahua corn.
“It may possibly be the holy grail of corn on the cob,” Sheldon said, adding that trip to Super Pollo had been a great bonding experience. “I’ve never had this much fun with my sister before.”
