UPDATED Traffic Alert: Southbound I-15 reopens in Virgin River Gorge after being closed by crash

ST. GEORGE — A crash had closed Interstate 15 southbound in the Virgin River Gorge between St. George and Littlefield, Arizona, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Updated Sept. 13, 1:15 p.m.: All lanes reopened.

The injury crash, reportedly involving multiple trucks and vehicles, is near mile post 14 and was reported around 11:10 a.m. It is causing a backup in the gorge.

At 1:15 p.m., one lane was reopened allowing some traffic to move south, though the Gorge remains backed up. By 1:45 p.m., all lanes were reopened.

Motorists are directed to use alternate routes cross into Arizona from Utah, including Old Highway 91.

There is no estimated time on the highway reopening.
