Washington County schools will continue to allow face shields without masks despite governor’s order

ST. GEORGE — Just two days into the Washington County School District’s fall semester, Gov. Gary Herbert issued a new order regarding face shields in K-12 schools late Friday afternoon. In response to this order, the district has taken a somewhat wait-and-see approach, deciding to continue forward with their original plan.

Pickup driver extricated after high-speed, rear-end collision with semi in Mesquite

ST. GEORGE — On Friday afternoon, a pickup truck traveling on Lower Flat Top Road rear-ended a semitractor-trailer at high speeds, leading to the extrication of the pickup truck driver. The collision occurred north of the Flying J travel center.

14-year-old boy on dirt bike collides with truck, suffers critical injuries

HILDALE — A 14-year-old boy was flown to Salt Lake City’s Primary Children’s Hospital in critical condition following an accident that occurred at Utah Avenue and Pinion Street Saturday afternoon.
