UPDATED: Northbound I-15 reopens in Virgin River gorge after semi crash creates ‘fireball’

ST. GEORGE — All northbound travel came to a halt on Interstate 15 in the Virgin River Gorge for much of Saturday after a semitractor-trailer crashed and then exploded, igniting a brush fire below one of the corridor’s bridges early in the morning.

Rescuer rappels 450 feet in middle of night to rescue fallen hiker

ST. GEORGE — Search and rescue officers worked in the early morning hours before the sun rose to rescue a hiker that had fallen to a ledge from a mountain ridge near Cedar City early Saturday.

DMV ending postcard registration reminders

SALT LAKE CITY — Next month, the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles will stop reminding motorists to renew their vehicles’ registration via mail.

Fox13Now.com reports the DMV sends hundreds of thousands of postcards each month to Utahns, reminding them that their registration is expiring soon.

Ivins City Council rejects support for ‘Utah Leads Together’ plan, approves trash, recycling contract

ST. GEORGE — At their Thursday meeting, the Ivins City Council rejected a council member’s motion to support Gov. Gary Herbert’s “Utah Leads Together” pandemic plan, while giving approval to Washington County’s new 10-year contract with Republic Services for trash pick up, recycling and landfill management.
