SALT LAKE CITY – In coordination with a directive from the White House, Gov. Gary Herbert has ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Utah to be flown at half-staff for Memorial Day.

Herbert issued the order in honor of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service of the country, according to a press release issued by the Governor’s Office.

Flags will be flown at half-staff at all state office buildings from sunrise until noon Monday. Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute for the customary forenoon period.
