Southern Utah weekend weather: Mostly sunny skies and higher temperatures

ST. GEORGE — According to the National Weather Service, this weekend’s weather for the majority of southwestern will include mostly sunny skies, with only a slight chance of snowfall in some areas of the state.

St. George

Saturday

Sunny with a high of 66 and low of 44, with north winds of 5-8 mph.

Sunday

Sunny with a high of 70 and low of 45, with north-northeast winds of 6-10 mph.

Cedar City

Saturday 

Mostly cloudy with a high of 51 and low of 31, with north winds of 6-8 mph. There’s a 30 percent chance of snow showers after noon. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday 

Mostly sunny with a high of 56 and low of 32, with north winds of 8 mph.

Zion National Park/Springdale

Saturday 

Sunny with a high of 55 and low of 30, with north winds of 5-10 mph. There’s a 20 percent chance of rain and snow showers after 1 p.m.

Sunday

Sunny with a high of 60 and low of 31, with north-northeast winds of 6-13 mph.

Brian Head

According to the Brian Head Resort website, the area has received 0 inches of snow over the last 24 hours, maintaining a 86-inch base depth.

Saturday 

Mostly cloudy with a high of 26 and low of 15, with north winds of 10-14 mph. There’s a 50 percent chance of snow showers after noon. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than an inch possible.

Sunday 

Sunny with a high of 30 and low of 18, with north winds of 15-18 mph.

Weather warnings and advisories

A hazardous weather outlook is in place for the following areas: Utah’s Dixie, Zion National Park, Glen Canyon Recreation Area, Lake Powell and Southern Utah mountains.

Early morning showers across the northern portion of the outlook area will shift south and expand in areal coverage Saturday afternoon. This shower activity will decrease this evening, with lingering showers confined to southeast Utah late tonight.

The next significant storm system will arrive over the outlook area for Tuesday night through Wednesday. This storm will generate substantial amounts of valley rain, with snow confined to the higher mountain elevations.
