ST. GEORGE — A man is dead following a shooting at the One and Only Bar in St. George early Saturday morning.
According to a post on the St. George Police Department’s Facebook page, police responded to the bar shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday on a report of an individual brandishing a gun and reports of gunfire. The shooting was reportedly a result of a dispute between bar patrons that started in an area in front of the bar. The shooting itself happened outside the establishment, in front of an adjacent business, according to the police department’s post.
The events that transpired between the shooter and victim, whose name has not been released at the publishing of this report, are still under investigation.
Bronson Joseph Flynn, 26, of St. George, was arrested on the following charges: homicide, two counts of aggravated assault involving a weapon, DUI, brandishing a firearm during a fight, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon by a restricted person.
The 34-year-old male victim received first aid at the scene and was transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Anyone who was at the One and Only Bar, located at 64 N. 800 East, on Friday night or early Saturday and witnessed the dispute leading up to the shooting, or the shooting itself, is asked to contact the St. George Police Department Investigation Unit’s tip line at 435-627-4338. Reference incident number 18P031977.
According to the One and Only Bar’s Facebook page, the bar will be closed all day Saturday due to the incident.
St. George Police Captain Mike Giles told St. George News there will be an internal briefing from investigations on Monday about the incident, at which time the victim’s name will most likely be released.
This is a developing story. More information will be updated.

Charge him with murder and throw away the key. Scum like that don’t deserve to live.
So basically is what your telling me, is Saint George police officer Ken child’s, has something to work on besides traffic stops for window tint on a cloudy day ????? What!!! No way !!!!
I read this twice and couldn’t find any reference to Ofc Ken Childs. Capt Mike Giles is cited but I doubt he has written a window tint citation for 20 years. Are you just using this article to bash an officer who gave you a ticket? If so, how petty.
yep, he’s totally off topic and completely whining. He thought his window tint made him look real cool. He’ll be tired of whining about it in a day or two…
According to the interwebs he has also lived in SLC area, Phoenix, Sandy and St. George, besides where he currently lives in Ivins.
He really gets around, glad he’s not a local.
He is basically a local. His FB page says he went to Snow Canyon HS. Based on his FB page, he seems like a real loser. Too bad it had to come to this for him to stop being a menace to society, but hopefully he’ll be locked away for good now. Good riddance.
Oh snap, I hadnt checked that. WOW… Top pic is of him smoking a huge blunt of MJ while working out. Further down references selling drugs. N words.
Then this incriminating missive:
“Bronson Flynn
September 11, 2014 ·
Drunk people… Make me wanna knock people. Off…. Thaha”
I went to high school with this kid. Can confirm he was a piece of …
Ed. ellipsis
well, what can ya say…
no mysteries to solve here i guess
It’s awful and you’re right, no mystery here. Guilty
Oh, the hypocrisy runs deep with this one:
LBA just misstated I was “already judge, jury, and executioner” in a previous thread yet makes this post with no sense of irony. The other issue has months of investigation and enough evidence for prosecution while this one is from reporting with very limited information, ie initial arrest and booking record.
Even better is LBA has said, in previous posts, she doesn’t even read the news.
No holes in this story. You cant use force different than the force coming at you to be self defense. Dont bring a gun to a fist fight.
Hes a murderer
You are being sarcastic when you say “No holes in this story”, correct? This article provides absolutely zero details regarding the actual shooting and the police facebook page explicitly states “the investigation is ongoing and details of the dispute, and specific events leading up to the shooting, are not being released at this time.” The story is one big hole at this point for the average citizen, ie anyone not on the police force investigating the incident. The only thing we know is the police have arrested him on probable cause and he had a gun he presented to others on the scene. The only thing you have to go is blind trust of the police’s original decision which is hypocritical given your statements on the other thread (given its backed up with detective work and prosecutor’s research plus a judge’s acceptance of a case’s merit and standing).
In all seriousness, your confidence in your statements does not remotely match the details presented on this article or the police information dump on facebook.
PS…In Utah, Stand Your Ground laws allow you to use lethal force if your are under physical threat even if the person doing the threatening doesn’t have a firearm. Without details in this case we don’t know what level of threat, if any, was happening on the other side of the altercation. My base assumption is the victim was 100% innocent but your claim that “you cant use force different than the force coming at you to be self defense” is fallacious on a legal level. Once again, you are making broad assumptions without any facts to support them. In other words, without any sense of irony, you are acting as the ” judge, jury, and executioner” that you derided just days ago.
You are crazy! This is not a stand your ground shooting in context of the law. You cant be under the influence, in public, standing on the parking lot ground, and run away and hide and use this law.
Not crazy, accurate rebuttal with speculative context and information available at the time.
The new information (run and hide) wasn’t available to either of us at the time of the comment nor were any other details of actual shooting. No details were available about BAC levels (not sure that matters if both parties are inebriated but I wouldn’t want to rely on that defense), etc. But you most definitely can use lethal force for self-protection in Utah in public spaces if you are at said place legally (its not just a traditional castle doctrine).
Doesn’t matter anyways. Details are slowly emerging that take it out of realm of your original speculation.
You moved the goalpost. I was responding to your generic claim that “You cant use force different than the force coming at you to be self defense”, hence the reference to Utah law regarding stand your ground.
That said, it doesn’t matter in the generic as police arrested suspect on secondary charge of “possession of a weapon by a restricted person.” You most definitely can’t “stand your ground” with a weapon you are legally prohibited from possessing. I didn’t catch the detail earlier and its clearly not a law that can apply in this specific case. I apology for not catching my error there sooner.
Here, I’ll tell you how the other story will end.
The public defender will come in with a scare tactic. He will tell the dude, you are in alot of trouble, your facing x amount of years, your best bet is a plea. The dude being guilty of sex with a minor will be scared.
The public pretender will comeback with a plea of a lesser charge of sex with a minor, register as a sex offender. and having a weapon present during a crime of sex with minor. The dude will be fearful and the public pretender will convince him the case is strong enough and a jury will convict him. The dude guilty of sex with minor will take the plea and the case will never go to trial.
IThe courtsdont care about the truth. It’s a he said she said she with only circumstantial evidence and a plea will be offered and taken. The end.
Weeeellll, its not cut and dried. If he was flashing the gun, “it could have been” because he was assaulted, flashed the gun to encourage the person to back off, then used the gun after he was further assaulted.
Good case to keep an eye on.
Quite curious to know who the other side of the altercation was… Out late at the One and Only, getting in a fight in the parking lot. hmmm…. Drunks play stupid games and win stupid prizes, youtube has lots of videos of them pulling similar stunts on actual armed cops. Ego often gets the best of them.
There’s a bar in St George?
If you can call it that.
It’s the one and only one!
It’s a local trouble spot for the police …its not the first time they’ve been called there.
And the Firehouse had a bad rep…….?????
Thanks OaO
We should hang him and give him a gun before the chair is moved he can take himself out or the rope can!!
His FB also notes he spent about 3 months in jail in Spring 2012 for assault, likely a felony as he is noted by police as a “gun restricted person”….
That wont go well for any “self defense” plea.
20 some years ago I walked into this bar when it was called “Knut & Klyde’s” local old timers will remember. They had a Help Wanted sign in the window and I was sick of pounding nails all day so I asked about the position and was told to be there Friday evening at 4:45pm. Friday evening rolled around landing on the 13th day of that month under a massive full moon, and as I was walking up to the front door it flew open and “Tom Foard” walked out pulling a guy with a splattered nose out the door by his long black hair. I was holding the door open when Tom looked up with a huge smile and said “Help me throw him in the dumpster out back?”. “Sure!” I said. That was the craziest, funnest and an often dangerous place to work. But all “bars” are inherently that way. Tom was later senselessly killed in a robbery involving a “Friend of the bar.”. But I for one loved the guy; as I’m sure many reading this will be remembering the wild Irishman Tom was.
I don’t recall the name of the bar at the time but I do remember the Tom Foard murder incident. The perp got off.

I just read that article and it sounds like the St. Police didn’t know how to handle an investigation then either!!! Hadn’t they heard of gun powder residue on the suspects hand!!! Could’ve solved that right quick!!! So did they ever find the long haired guy??? Thought not!!!
A very sad, tragic situation for the victim, his family, and the perp, as well as his family. I know who the victim was, but I cannot name him here because the article has not done so for good reason. I can say the victim was quite large himself and was not someone you wanted to have angry with you. Unfortunately, if both were inebriated, then it would have been easy for things to get out of hand because judgment goes away after a few drinks.
I wish the best for both sides’ families; things will be rough for a long time for them.
