ST. GEORGE — Family and friends were able to located two missing teenage girls Wednesday afternoon after they went missing the night before.
Update Dec. 28, 8:20 a.m. A family of one of the missing girls announced on social media that they’ve been found safe.
Cedar City Police Sgt. Jerry Womack said the police received a report of two missing 14-year-old girls; however, a family friend of one of the missing girls said another teenage girl who is a couple years older is with them.
Asia Loomer-james, 14, was last seen with two friends around 6 p.m. Wednesday and didn’t return home after telling her mom she was going to a friend’s house.
Brittany Bean, a family friend of Loomer-james, said she’s considered at-risk because she harms herself.
The last that family or friends heard from the girls is when a picture of the three of them was posted to Instagram at 3 a.m. Thursday, but Womack said detectives assigned to the case haven’t been able to locate the girls.
Womack couldn’t provide the name of the other girl reported missing because she’s a minor.
He said the girls are possible runaway juveniles and may be with friends.
“It’s not believed that they’re in any danger or have been kidnapped,” Womack said.
The two girls have both been described as being 5 foot 3 inches, 106 pounds and having dark hair. One of the girls was last seen wearing dark pants, a black pull-over hoodie and a beanie.
Anyone with information on the girls pictured at the top of this report is asked to call the Cedar City Police at 435-586-2956.
