Families hoof it in ‘Run Run Reindeer,’ a Southern Utah Christmas tradition

ST. GEORGE — Before chowing down on treats or preparing to open presents next week, families joined in on a Southern Utah Christmas tradition Saturday morning — the “Run Run Reindeer” 5K in Ivins.

More than 500 runners joined this year, Colleen Rue said. Rue is a DJ for Planet 105.1, which helped conduct the event. Proceeds from the run also benefit Toys for Tots; over $1,000 was raised this year.

Multiple participants told St. George News that the “Run Run Reindeer” 5K has become a family tradition, including April Paxton. Her family participated in the Christmas-spirited 5K for the fourth time.

“It’s a great family tradition,” she said. “We do it every year with my family.”
