MONTVILLE, N.J. (AP) — Are your children all nestled all snug in their beds? Are you sure they’re asleep?
OK, so it’s safe to talk about how New Jersey school officials say a substitute teacher who told first-grade students that Santa Claus isn’t real will not be returning to the school.
NJ.com reports Montville Schools Superintendent Rene Rovtar confirmed Tuesday the teacher will no longer work in the district after the incident Thursday at Cedar Hill School.
Rovtar declined further comment, saying the issue is a personnel matter.
Adding insult to injury
Officials say the teacher debunked other holiday characters, including the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Elf on a Shelf.
Rovtar previously said she was disheartened by the incident and that “childhood wonder associated with all holidays and traditions” is special to her.
The substitute teacher’s identity has not been released.

Strange conundrum. The teacher did not lie, rather told the truth. On the other hand, the teacher also destroyed the innocence of childhood imagination that is based on a long standing tradition. It is up to parents to decide this, and the teacher is wrong in this case, overstepping curriculum as well as common sense, and pushing forth a personal agenda for ego sake or whatever ersonal beliefs motivated the disclosure. With that being said, this for me is a reflection of what is going on at the University level of education. Rather than pushing critical thinking, professors are pushing their belief systems on the students with a specific intent of undermining free thought for the sake of social justice and political bias. Somehow the ends justify the means. Perhaps a stretch from 1st grade and Santa Claus, but if you think about it, it is the same thing in a nutshell.

Good for the teacher. Parents are just mad because they are liars and got caught. The truth shall set you free.
Ladybug, I’m sorry to disagree. I enjoyed the ruse immensely as a little kid. Santa for a period of my life was a real person and he represented the archetype of good, and that being good has a reward. I even went to the original Santas village near lake arrowhead back in the 60s and was in complete awe. The funny thing my older brothers never tried to undermine my illusion, as for them it was a right of passage. Destroying a tradition for the sake of ego is not setting the truth free. What if the teacher also presumes the nativity aspect or xmas is a fantasy, and tells them that is all a fabrication too. And on that note who’s to say Santa isn’t a real person or a spirit in and of itself.
I’ve been to that Santa’s village too but it was in the 70’s. It was a fun place.
But that has nothing to do with the lie. Tge first person to lie to you is your parents for the sake of what?
Granted, I do not go around telling kids their parents are encouraging you to believe a lie.
It’s been confirmed that the teacher’s actual name was Debbie Downer. What did they expect?
If that’s true, a genius comment, Comment. I think Santa Claus is the coolest icon on the planet. I was in Panama, almost 7 years ago, en El Valle. I got up on Christmas Eve morning only to find out I had no choice but to become Santa Claus that day for all the poor children in the surrounding mountains. Comment, you may not believe this but I actually became Santa that day. And the funny thing is when I came back to this country, with no residence to go back to, Santa Claus moved to Santa Cla.. Utah.

I’m concerned about our teachers in general. They seem caught up in liberal politics which stifles individual expression and rewards mediocrity. Political correctness rules the day and honest expression is discouraged. liberals extoll diversity but repress thoughts that don’t fit their narrative. Diverse opinions are not welcome.
