ST. GEORGE — A trail in Zion National Park that was closed due to two rockfalls this week has been reopened.
A rockfall late Monday afternoon covered approximately 45 feet of the Hidden Canyon Trail’s chains section in sand, and was followed by a second rockfall Tuesday, according to a press release.
No injuries were reported in either incident.
Closed over the July 4 holiday, the area has since been cleared with park officials announcing over Twitter Thursday that the trail was reopened.
The Hidden Canyon Trail is now open.

The trail was the site of a similar incident in July 2012 that stranded three park visitors for three hours before rangers could help them out of the canyon.

The Hidden Canyon Trail was built in 1928 and leads from East Rim Trail into the side ravine between Cable Mountain and the north wall of the Great White Throne. The chains section assists hikers in a traverse along a narrow ledge.
