Garland James Taylor

Feb. 23, 1943 — June 28, 2018

Garland James Taylor passed away June 28, 2018, at his home in Nephi, Utah.

Garland was born Feb. 23, 1943, in Hurricane, Utah, to Ina and Clarence Taylor. He was the first of five children.

Garland lived most of his life in the St. George area and worked for St. George City Recreation Department as a groundskeeper at Dixie Red Hills Golf Course. He took great pride in his work.

In 2009, he moved to Nephi to be closer to family.

Garland was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel. His favorite calling was that of greeter and handing out programs to ward members. He loved visiting with people and had a kind word for everyone.

Garland is survived by his brothers: Bruce Taylor Hall (Darla) of Nephi and Richard Taylor (Karlene) of Layton; his sister, Evelyn Durfee (Charles) of South Salt Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Glennis Williams and Viola Taylor.

The family would like to thank physicians and caregivers for the kind and tender care they have given Garland.

Funeral services

  • Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 7,  at 10 a.m. at Hurricane City Cemetery, 526 W. 600 North, Hurricane, Utah.
