Southern Utah weekend weather forecast: From Lake Powell to Cedar City, it’s gonna be a hot one

ST. GEORGE — According to the National Weather Service, this weekend’s weather for most of Southern Utah is expected to be warm for all three days, with highs reaching over 100 in some places. A red flag warning and fire weather watch have been issued, so officials are asking travelers and tourists to be careful.

St. George

Friday

Forecast will be sunny with a high of 103 and low of 70. Winds will be 5-9 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday

A high of 106 and low of 73, with winds of 7-15 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday

A high of 98 and low of 68, with winds of 11-16 mph.

Cedar City

Friday

Sunny with a high of 88 and low of 59, with winds of 6-14 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday

Sunny with a high of 92 and low of 54, with winds of 12-17 mph.

Sunday

Sunny with a high of 83 and low of 56, with winds of 7-10 mph.

Zion National Park

Friday

Friday’s forecast is sunny with a high of 103 and low of 69. Winds will be 7-9 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday

High of 104 and low of 65, with winds of 8-15 mph.

Sunday

High of 98 and low of 67, with winds of 6-15 mph.

Lake Powell

Friday

Friday’s forecast near the lake will be sunny with a high of 97 and low of 63. Winds will be 5-10 mph in the afternoon. There will be patchy smoke before noon.

Saturday

High of 102 and low of 66, with winds of 10-15 mph.

Sunday

High of 96 and low of 63, with winds of 10-15 mph.

Warnings and advisories

A red flag warning is in effect until midnight Friday and again Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. for most of Southern Utah as a result of wind and low humidity. Outdoor burning during this time is not recommended.

Affected areas include the majority of Washington, Iron, Kane and Beaver counties and portions of San Juan, Garfield and Wayne counties. This includes areas of Manti National Forest, Grand Staircase, Color Country West Desert and Mojave Desert.

In addition, a fire weather watch has been issued near Lake Powell all day Saturday. Rapid rates of fire growth and spread are possible under these conditions.
