Shortly after 6 p.m. PDT, the Mesquite Fire Department was dispatched the fire off Nevada state Route 170 on the outskirts of Mesquite near the Riverside Bridge involving several burning structures, Mesquite Fire Department Public Information Officer Ryan Thornton said.

The first units to arrive on scene found live power lines on the ground, prompting an emergency repair crew to be dispatched to the scene while firefighters tackled the blaze.

The fire spread and engulfed three older, 400-square-foot residential structures that were vacant at the time of the incident, Thornton said. As crews continued firefighting efforts, the roofs on all three structures collapsed.

Firefighting efforts were hindered by the age of the buildings, as well as the materials used to construct them.

Firefighters eventually extinguished the blaze, which had begun to spread to nearby shrubs and brush.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters from Clark County Fire Department, Bunkerville Fire Department, an engine from Overton and the Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire District also responded from Nevada.

This report is based on statements from emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
