FEATURE — Brigham’s Playhouse, a Southern Utah leader in live theater, is delighted to announce “Bye Bye Birdie” will be showing Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from now until June 16 at their intimate indoor theater in Washington City.
“Bye Bye Birdie” takes audience members back to the year 1958, centered around rock and roll idol Conrad Birdie being drafted into the U.S. Army. His songwriter and agent, Albert, and Albert’s secretary and part-time girlfriend, Rosie, hatch a plan for a farewell performance to take place on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” They hope it will help sell Birdie’s new song “One Last Kiss” and ultimately save Almaelou Records from going under.
To cap off the performance, the plan is to have Birdie actually give ‘one last kiss’ to Kim MacAfee, a teenage member of the Conrad Birdie fan club from Sweet Apple, Ohio. Mayhem, laughter and fun ensue and make this Broadway classic a must see.
Hit songs audience members will hear include “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” “Kids!” and “Rosie!” This musical features a tuneful, high-energy score and a hilarious script that will be sure to entertain and thrill audiences in Southern Utah.
“Bye Bye Birdie” is under the direction of Dale Hoopes and executive producer Jamie Young. Performances will run Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m., with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Tickets are $17-$23 and are available on their website or by calling the playhouse box office at 435-251-8000.

Mayhem, laughter, AND fun? Here in Southern Utah? Better tone it down a little, people might think you are”blasted” on booze, perhaps even above a .05!
There will some arrest made for sure, dancing and mayhem and fun that’s a violation of city code ….
