Police arrest 2 Utahns, 1 Nevadan following drug trafficking investigation

ST. GEORGE – An investigation into alleged drug trafficking in Mesquite, Nevada, resulted in the arrests of two Utahns and a Mesquite resident.

The three were taken into custody Monday around 12:30 p.m. PDT (1:30 p.m. MST) following a lengthy investigation by Mesquite Police narcotics detectives into multiple suspects who were trafficking and selling crystal meth and heroin, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the Mesquite Police Department.

“Detectives were involved in multiple purchases of illegal drugs and also assisted the Drug Enforcement Agency with investigating one of the involved suspects who was also currently under federal investigation,” the statement reads.

Sirena Abbott, 37, of Mesquite, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies related to the sale of meth and heroin, drug possession, conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substance Act and being a habitual criminal. Abbott was transported and booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.

Joshua Pineda, 29, of St. George, was arrested and taken into custody by the DEA and faces federal drug charges. Pineda also has multiple felony charges pending as a result of the investigation.

Rene Pintor, 25, of St. George, is currently in custody at the Mesquite Detention Center serving a sentence for previous criminal convictions. Pintor also has multiple felony charges pending as a result of the investigation.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
