SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by owners of a Utah Subway shop where a worker was wrongly accused of drugging a police officer’s drink.

U.S. District Judge Dee Benson ruled Thursday that police in Layton did not implicate the store or imply it had been negligent.
The Layton Subway shop’s owners said police waited two months to disavow the allegations despite knowing blood and urine tests showed the officer had no drugs in his system.
The owners say they suffered $300,000 in losses after police claimed early tests showed THC and methamphetamine in the officer’s lemonade.
Lawyer Robert Sykes, who represents the shop owners, said he disagrees with the judge’s decision and said the police officers’ comments were defamatory.
He said his clients would decide next week whether to appeal.

I would not Blame Subway if they filed another Lawsuit against St. George News producing the “Composite Photo” that kinda shows that there are some sort of pills being put in “Subway” soft drinks.
Wait didn’t the original article say the cop had methamphetamine and THC in his system??? So yeah now this article is saying it didn’t show he had the drugs in his system!!! What is it did he or didn’t he??? The cop is lying about something!!! He screwed up somewhere and now he’s passing the buck on to somebody else!!! And that poor kid has to deal with this for the rest of his life, because of that cops reputation was far more better than anyone else’s!!! And yes those fingers holding a pill above the “Subway” cup is very misleading!!! Hum makes me not want to go to Subway anytime soon!!! Lol jk I have found recently that I cannot rely on the cops for anything, especially when it comes to the safety of our children!!! And re-reading the original artical verified my feelings towards them even more!!! If they can’t do their job correctly they will just blame a kid or someone else!!! And yes I know firsthand how it works I’ve had to do their job for them recently cuz certain ones wouldn’t!!!
The cop said he was disoriented and felt drugged. The officer DROVE to the station to report this problem! Tests on the officer came back negative. A quick test (that has been shown to be less than accurate) of the drink tested positive for THC and meth. Later tests on the drink came back negative.
The police wasted no time publicizing the name of the kid they were accusing, but they have never once published the name of the officer who made the false accusation.
Why don’t the cops ever own their mistakes as publicly/loudly as they own their unproven accusations?
