CEDAR CITY — Have a health care question you need answered? Are you interested in emergency preparedness? Need help with your mortgage payment?
Answers to these questions and more will offered at the annual Cedar City Health Fair Saturday, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the concourse at Cedar City Hospital.
Intermountain Healthcare is sponsoring the event that will feature free screenings, giveaways and medical information designed to help those who have a specific need or general questions.
In conjunction with the health fair, Southwest Utah Public Health Department will be on site offering low-cost or free flu shots. Flu shots cost $20 payable by cash, check or credit card. There is no charge to those insured by DMBA, Adult Medicaid, Medicare (depending on HMO plan,) Utah Retirement Systems’ PEHP, SelectHealth, Tall Tree, United Healthcare or Aetna First Health (not on the Utah Connected Network).
The health fair will include an “Age Out Loud” feature around the hospital walking path to honor and collect donations for older adults in the community. In addition, there will be information on resources for older adults.
“The yearly health fair and flu shoot-out provides a fun, easy and important service to our community,” Becki Bronson, spokesperson for the hospital, said.
There is no charge to attend the fair; it is completely free to the public.
Several agencies will be in attendance offering residents information and help they can access. These resources will include Iron County Care and Share, help with food stamp applications and mortgage payments, senior services, access to Downwinders/RESEP care and funds and domestic violence services and prevention.
“I love to see entire families when they come to this event, because it’s meant for everyone at every age,” Bronson said. “It’s an event I think every person in our community should utilize.”
