ST. GEORGE — A vehicle fire on Interstate 15 between Paragonah and Beaver temporarily blocked traffic Monday morning as responders contained the flames.

Utah Highway Patrol responded to the incident involving a pickup truck pulling a trailer at approximately 11 a.m. on southbound I-15 underneath the Exit 95 overpass.

The driver pulled over into the right shoulder when the truck caught fire. The flames spread to nearby grass, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said.

Responders closed traffic on both southbound lanes while firefighters battled the blaze.

“Traffic was diverted off of exit 95 and right back on I-15,” Royce said, adding that the overall impact on traffic was minimal.

Once the fire was contained, the outside lane remained closed for approximately two hours while the Utah Department of Transportation assessed the damage to the roadway.

The brush fire was limited to a small area, and no one was injured in the incident.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
