The county’s public lands offer a wide range of outdoor recreational possibilities – horseback riding, hunting, fishing, camping and the like. Recognizing the need to protect those lands for generations to come was the impetus behind the County Commision’s “Give Your Land a Hand” initiative, according to its news release. Volunteers are needed.

Cleanup at LaVerkin’s Confluence Park Tuesday will involve collecting debris such as old water lines, fencing materials, plywood and other trash.

All interested in joining the effort, individuals and organizations alike, are asked to meet at the Confluence Park Trailhead at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Wear long pants, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes or boots; bring work gloves, water and snacks.

“Our natural beauty helps set us apart from other destinations in the region, and it is our duty to act as good stewards to keep it that way,” Commissioner Victor Iverson said. “We invite everyone to help make this treasured city park an even more enjoyable place to walk and ride horses.”
