ST. GEORGE — With most attention shifting to the gridiron and friday night lights, girls soccer is taking a bit of a backseat. But do not tell that to any of these teams. Region 9 continues to improve each game. Region play is set to begin next week and some teams are getting the rest of their mistakes out of their system.
Here is a roundup of what happened on Friday:
Springville 3, Hurricane 1
In an early morning game, Springville took control of the game and never looked back in St. George.
The loss was the first for Hurricane on the season and they will look to regroup going into region play. The Lady Tigers are 2-1 heading into next week’s region action.
Wasatch 5, Cedar 2
The Wasatch Wasps made a furious second half comeback against the Cedar Redmen, coming back from down 2-1 at half to win 5-2.
The Wasps had four different players score in the second half, while Ashley Jenkins and Julia Hunt found the back of the net for the Redmen.
The loss puts Cedar’s record at 0-3-0 with one game left before region play.
Ridgeline 1, Dixie 0
Ridgeline scored early in the first half and was able to hold on for the narrow victory over the Dixie Flyers.
Dixie’s record now stands at 0-1-1 with one game left before region play.
