Another driver’s failure to yield results in collision sending 1 to hospital

ST. GEORGE — A two-vehicle collision on Dixie Drive at S. Blackridge Drive in St. George Tuesday morning caused one man to be taken to the hospital and two cars to be towed from the scene.

“(When) I arrived on scene, I found both vehicles that had moved to the side of the road on Dixie Drive,” St. George Police Officer Jamison Hale said. “It appears that a … 2010 Toyota Camry was eastbound on Dixie Drive turning left onto Black Ridge on a green light, did not see …  a 2006 Chevy Avalanche traveling westbound in the inside lane.”

The driver of the Toyota turned left in front of the Avalanche, Hale added, causing the two vehicles to collide.

The passenger in the Toyota was bleeding from his head and was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George by Gold Cross Ambulance to be treated for his injuries.

No other injuries were reported, Hale said, and all parties were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the Toyota Camry was issued a citation for failure to yield on a left turn, Hale said.

Both cars were towed from the scene. No major traffic tie ups were caused as a result of this crash.

St. George Police and Fire department personnel along with Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
