ST GEORGE — Looking for the biggest block party of the summer? Slide the City arrives in St. George on June 4, and 100 East will be transformed with food, music, local vendors and street entertainers. But it will be the giant water slide that will distinguish this from most block parties.
Families and friends alike can slip and splash down the giant water slide while onlookers enjoy the surrounding block party. Event organizers are excited for their first stop in St. George.
“This unique event was a huge success last year,” Slide the City co-owner John Malfatto said, “but for 2016 we are going to be adding some fun entertainment to give it more of a community feel.”
This massive event is bigger and better than the average block party. Besides the normal fare, families, friends and neighbors are invited to take a break from the heat, speeding through two city blocks on inner tubes on the one-of-a-kind 1,000-foot water slide.
Sliding starts at 9 a.m. All those over 5 years of age and 46 inches tall are welcome to slide. Participants can purchase a single, triple or ultimate slider pass during a selected wave time. Preregistration is encouraged to get the best rate. Pricing starts at $15. Online registration is now open at Slide the City website.
In addition to having a great time, sliders can feel good knowing that a portion of their ticket price will go to benefit this years chosen charity, the Washington County Children’s Justice Center.
About the Children’s Justice Center
The Washington County Children’s Justice Center is a safe homelike setting where victims of child abuse can receive a forensic interview, medical exam and referral to victim services, such as mental health counseling and support services.
When sliders use the code “CHILD” at checkout they will receive a 10 percent discount off their ticket price as well as ensure that a portion of the proceeds goes back to the justice center so they can continue their lifesaving work.
