George Ray Hammon, Jr. age 44, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 in St. George, Utah. He was born on August 8, 1971 in Hildale, Utah to George Ray Hammon, Sr. and Maureen Barlow George was raised in Colorado City, Arizona. He was anxious to experience life and left home at an early age. He lived in many places and learned different trades but mining was what he loved.
George met the mother of his future children in the early 1990’s. They had five children: Trycia, Cherylee, Rosalee, Troy and Angeleta. These children were the love of his life! George always bragged about his beautiful smart and talented children and how proud he was of them. They were his everything and all that he did was for them. George also had a tender place in his heart for all of his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed taking the kids fishing, shooting, and hanging out with them. He loved to spend New Year’s Eve with them playing games and watching the fireworks. He was a “big kid” himself. George loved all of his family dearly.
He is survived by his parents, George Ray Hammon, Sr. and Maureen Barlow Hammon (Hildale, Utah); his children: Trycia Rohbock (St. George, Utah), Cherylee Hammon, Rosalee Hammon, Troy Ray Hammon and Angeleta Hammon (Canbeds, Arizona); and many brothers and sisters.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Jonathan M. Hammon, Yvonne D. Hammon, Joseph Barlow and Clea B. Barlow; brother, Maurice B. Hammon; and nephew, Myron R. Hammon.
- Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Holm Sunday School Building, Hildale, Utah.
- A public visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and also Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to services, both held at the Holm Sunday School Building.
- Interment will take place in the Hammon Family Cemetery, Colorado City, Arizona.
Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, Utah.
