MONTICELLO — The Bureau of Land Management-Utah Monticello Field Office will increase several camping fees to offset operational costs, including campground cleaning and maintenance, which continue to rise. Increases go into effect Feb. 1 and Sept. 1.
Beginning Feb. 1, the BLM-Utah will charge a $10 overnight camping fee per site at Hamburger Rock and $15 per site at Sand Island. The Sand Island group site will become $25 a night plus $4 per person per night.
Beginning Sept. 1, new overnight use fees will go into effect in the Indian Creek Corridor; Creek Pasture and Superbowl campgrounds will be $5 per site.
Beginning Sept. 1, new group site fees at Indian Creek Falls will be $25 plus $2 per person per night. New group site fees at Creek Pasture will be $25 plus $3 per person per night.
The fee increases were approved Sept. 10, 2015, by the Utah Recreation Resource Advisory Council, according to a news release issued by the BLM-Utah.
A self-pay fee station will be located at campground entrances. Camping is on a first-come, first-served basis, and individual campsites cannot be reserved in advance. Larger group sites can still be reserved by calling the Monticello Field Office at 435-587-1500.
The final business plan, which includes information regarding campground infrastructure and maintenance needs, is available online.
