ST. GEORGE — A driver lost control and went into a spin as a result of equipment failure on Interstate 15 during a rainstorm Tuesday night.
Just after 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on I-15 northbound near mile marker 6 and found a white Toyota Camry sitting in the median of the freeway facing west, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Seth Spencer said.
The 26-year-old male driver was uninjured and it appeared to officers that he had lost control of his vehicle and was sent spinning until his car came to rest in the grassy median, Spencer said.
The driver explained that he was having mechanical issues with his car just before losing control, Spencer said. So it doesn’t appear to be weather related.
No injuries were reported. Utah Highway Patrol tended to the scene while two officers from the St. George Police Department assisted with traffic control by closing the left lane of the freeway while debris was cleared.
No citations were issued in this incident.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
