CEDAR CITY — The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a winter weather advisory for snow, which is in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday.
Affected area
The Southern Wasatch Front, mainly south of Provo; the Sanpete and Sevier valleys; west-central Utah; southwest Utah, mainly Cedar City and north; and the central and Southern Utah mountains, mainly north and west of Bryce Canyon.
Snow accumulations
Valleys 1-3 inches with 2-5 inches in the mountains
Timing
Areas of snow will continue to develop through the evening. Snow will continue at times through the overnight hours, diminishing toward morning.
Impacts
Very cold temperatures will cause any snow to quickly accumulate on area roadways, creating hazardous driving conditions. Anyone traveling this afternoon through early Thursday morning through these areas should be prepared for winter driving conditions, including Interstate 15 from south of Provo to Cedar City, as well as Interstate 70 from the junction with I-15 to the San Rafael Swell.
Precautionary/preparedness actions
A winter weather advisory for snow means that snow accumulations will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads. Use caution while driving.
