On Dec. 25, 2015, Carol Straw passed from mortality to enter in the presence of her Father in Heaven. She was born April 1, 1935, in Fairview, Utah, to Leta Melissa Taylor and Robert Nyberg Christensen. She spent her early childhood in Hiawatha, Utah, and moved to Provo, Utah, when she was 9.

After graduation from Provo High School, she attended BYU for a short time where she was a founding member of the BYU Alpine Club. In 1957, she went to Washington, D.C., to work, where she met her husband, Reese Straw. On Oct. 13, 1958, they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

The majority of her married life was spent in Massachusetts, where she raised her three children. After 35 years, she and Reese left the cold and snow of New England and moved to Toquerville, Utah, in 1997. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life. She loved children, the outdoors, quilting and all that life had to offer.

She is survived by her brother, Nolan V. Frederick of Boulder, Colorado; her husband, Reese; her daughters, Maylene (Robert Bird) of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Karen of Toquerville, Utah; granddaughter, Gabriela Victoria (Steven Young); three great-grandchildren of St. George, Utah; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
