ST. GEORGE – Shoppers lined up by the hundreds Thursday afternoon for a Black Friday sale that began at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving evening.
Hundreds of shoppers and Black Friday enthusiasts stood in line for more than two hours waiting for the doors to open, in a line that stretched from Target’s front door south past Lowe’s Home Improvement store. When shoppers reached the front of the line, they were let into the store just 30 at a time.
Some shoppers said they abandoned home and hearth for the deals, some for the party-like atmosphere and others because they were pressured into coming by their families.
Jake Bulkley’s brothers-in-in law made him go shopping, he said. “So, (it was) either come with them or be stuck watching kids at home. So the wife sent us down here to buy the Christmas stuff.”
For many shoppers, the savings justified standing in line for hours; discounts on sought-after items such as big-screen televisions, cameras, computers, gaming systems and movies discounted by Target.
According to the National Retail Federation, in-store sales in November and December will top $630 billion, and online sales will reach $105 billion. Sales over Thanksgiving weekend alone will exceed $50.9 billion.
The National Retail Federation predicts that almost 136 million shoppers will be shopping in stores Thanksgiving weekend, and even more – 183 million – will take advantage of the online alternative Cyber Monday.

It should say hundreds of idiot’s standing in line for two hours. considering you can walk in there two days later and get the same item for the same price.
