ST. GEORGE – Families and friends gathered to take on the third annual Gobbler Run by participating in either the 10k, 5k or 1k kids run. The race has been growing steadily in attendance since it’s 2013 conception.
Event founders and brothers Collins and Adam Stuart envisioned a family race on Thanksgiving Day where runners could come spend quality time together and burn off calories before the holiday feasting began.
The event offers a wide range of running distances so there’s something for every member of the family to participate in.
“Even if you’re not a serious runner, you can tell from the atmosphere here that this really is something to just draw the whole family out,” Collins said.
The races began at the Confluence Trail Head at the Dixie Center in St. George. Collins estimated around 1,100 registered runners this year, compared to 800 runners the event’s first year. He said he is expecting to get close to 2,000 runners over the next couple years.
Runners could enjoy a photo booth, toasty hot chocolate, a bounce house and kids games on the grass while waiting for races to start and finish.
The Gobbler also gives back, matching one dollar donation per runner when they donate during registration with 100 percent of funds going to the Dove Center.
“What we’re really trying to do is create a community tradition,” Collins said. ” … It really becomes a staple of St. George in general that people get to come participate in The Gobbler.”

To the police officer outside of Arby’s this morning at around 12:55 AM. Thank you for protecting the 3 employees that closed that night. In lieu of the Pizza Hut robbery I thank you. My daughter was one of those employees, the other two employees wait with my daughter until myself or my husband pick her up from work. When I pulled into the parking lot and I saw you there, I knew you were protecting them….thank you! Sincerely, ladybugavenger
LOL ! Yeah that attitude will change when you get pulled over for a traffic violation
Whew! So lucky I didn’t get caught for that one time I ……. 😉 oh ya, it would have been a different story if he had gotten out of the car and approached these girls, but he didn’t and he left after my daughter got in my car….. Good cop
Tell me all about it. when you get pulled over and get a ticket
