On Nov. 8, 2015, heaven gained an amazing man, Richard “Kay” Bowler, 79. He was born Dec. 11, 1935, to Richard Truman Bowler and Helen Chadburn.

Kay married the love of his life, Beverly A. Abbott, Feb. 23, 1957. They had two children, Ila Kay and Kevin. In 1958, Kay was drafted into the armed services where he served two years at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 1960, Kay and Bev moved to Veyo, Utah, where they lived for most of their 59 years of marriage.

Kay was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to operate heavy equipment, and he had many hobbies. It did not matter if he was hunting, fishing, camping, cutting wood or picking pine nuts, the one thing he loved the most was having his family by his side on his adventures. Kay was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and a friend to everyone he came across. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Bev Bowler; his daughter, Ila Kay (Keith) Burgess; son, Kevin (Leslie) Bowler; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters Wilma Leavitt, Mabel Welch, Colleen (Mike) Cannon and Calleen (Art) Durfee.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Helen Bowler; sister, Roma Staheli; and brother, Jack Bowler.
