Carole Lindeman Barney, 72, passed away peacefully at home, November 11, 2015, after a 30-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Carole was born July 23, 1943, (on her mother’s 20th birthday) in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ray Edward and Gwen Lindeman.
She graduated from Granger High School (where she helped write the school song). She married Kenneth Weight and had her son Martin Ray Weight. She and Kenneth later divorced. In January, 1969, Carole had her daughter April Anne, in Long Beach, California.
In 1984, Carole and her two children moved to St. George, Utah, for a new life, where she worked as a mortgage loan officer for 15 years. Carole was president and a founding member of the APMW (Association of Professional Mortgage Women) and advanced her career through years of classes and training. She loved her job and retired from First Security Bank as a top producer. She loved helping people with their dream of purchasing new homes.
Carole is survived by her brother, John Ray Lindeman, her two children; Martin Weight (Yvette Pena) and April Anne Gates (Brett Foremaster Gates) and her beloved five grandsons; Vaughn and Tristan Weight, Ian Foremaster, Levi Westin and Jacob Don Gates. She leaves many, many friends, all of whom she considered special, who love her and have looked up to her positive attitude and undeniable strength.
Carole’s biggest joy was her family. She was happy to have her son, Martin, back in her life after many years in the film industry in California and was also thrilled when April moved back to Utah to be closer to family. She shared many wonderful hours with her grandsons: visiting, going to movies, swimming, and shopping and was so grateful to them for always helping her in and out of her wheelchair.
Carole had an unmatched spirit. She sang everywhere she went, whether it was out for the night with her friends, landing at any and every airport, on her way into multiple surgeries, at hundreds of weddings, funerals and at the care centers around town.
Music was her life, one of her most precious gifts and she shared it often. She loved her children, her grandsons, visits with her brother, swimming, movies, karaoke, steak night at the Elks, going to Costco and watching the view from the back patio of her house, which she adored. She lived without fear and chose happiness over pain.
Her son and daughter would like to express appreciation to Dixie Hospice and her caretaker Vulagni, for the last few months of incredible care.
Funeral Services
- Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 11 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George.
- A visitation will be held Saturday, 10:30-11 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
