ST. GEORGE – One driver was knocked unconscious and subsequently transported to the hospital Monday after the driver of a semitrailer ran a red light and collided with two smaller vehicles, leaving three people injured.
Just after 3 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the collision at the intersection of South River Road and East 100 South in St. George where the driver of a semitrailer failed to stop for a red light in time and hit two vehicles that were entering the intersection to turn north onto River Road, St. George Police Lt. Thad Feltner said.
The semitrailer skidded several feet as the semi driver attempted to stop for the light, Feltner said. The driver failed to brake in time and the semi collided with a gray sedan as well as a white sedan traveling in the outside turning lane.
A woman driving the gray sedan suffered the initial impact and was found unconscious and unresponsive, Feltner said. After regaining consciousness, she was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George to be treated for her injuries.
Two women in the white sedan were treated at the scene for injuries and burns consistent with those found when airbags deploy, but they declined transport to the hospital.
The driver of the semi suffered no reportable injuries, Feltner said, adding that the driver of the semi will be issued a citation when the investigation into the collision is complete.
Police directed traffic while emergency responders tended to the scene. After nearly an hour, traffic flow returned to normal.

this is pretty bad for truck driver and his career as a cdl holder, more sad for driver of other vehicle, normally insurance company for cdl company will jack truck companies rate unless they dismiss driver after one of these.
