The woman was driving south on Airport Road when she took her eyes off the road and reached down to grab her phone, Cedar City Police Officer Nate Williams said.

“Looks like she just drifted left, hit the bank, which threw her down into the ditch,” Williams said.

The woman was the only occupant of the car at the time of the crash.

While the woman reported moderate injuries, she was able to walk to the ambulance, which subsequently transported her to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City.

As this report is published, Williams said whether or not any citations will be issued is still to be determined.

The woman’s car was towed out of the ditch and away from the scene.

Cedar City Police and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
