ST. GEORGE – A man in his early 50s was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Monday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Valley View Drive near 540 North in St. George.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene just after 5 p.m. where it was reported that a man was lying unconscious in the middle of Valley View Drive after being hit by a vehicle, St. George Police Sgt. Spencer Holmes said.

The driver blocked the intersection with their vehicle to protect the man from further injury. The driver and other witnesses also rushed to help the man, Holmes said.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene within minutes, Holmes said. Due to the life-threatening injuries sustained, the man was rushed to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George in serious condition.

Detectives and investigators responded to the scene to begin accident reconstruction to determine the cause of the vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision. As this report is published, the incident is still under investigation.

St. George Police Department, St. George Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance tended to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Yup SGPD its time to perform another sting operation on Valley View! Nobody yields to pedestrians in the crosswalk on this road. I stopped the other day and 2 separate cars blew through the crosswalk with kids in the middle of the crosswalk. I honked and one of the kids started to run. Thank goodness the kid could move or he would have been killed. PLEASE DO MORE STINGS!! Its the only way you can keep this Utonians accountable! GO FALCONS!!

cops here don’t do traffic policing. maybe they’re scared they’ll pull someone over from their own ward…

This Road like Sunset Blvd has major accident Issues. Speaking of Sunset several Months ago that Street had a Car, Pedestrian Accident as well. this was Reported on this Very Site. The Pedestrian and The Dog he was Walking both Died. I agree police Patrols Sting operations need to be brought up higher on this Road, and Sunset. But there is so Much the police can Do. First unlike Sunset on ValleyView the stop lights are at Dixie Downs Drive and Sunset. It is a straight drive between the two lights. Plus People on Valleyview speed. The Limit is 35 mph, people will drive 40-50 mph on that road. Go the speed limit. So besides that we need a light there between dixie downs dr, and Sunset. But if that Cannot happen watch your speed people.
