UPDATE: 2:25 p.m. – In a St. George News Facebook comment, Jessica Smart wrote:

I was the one who found this boy and it was very clear that he was well taken care of- the poor parents were probably scared to death that he was missing. The officers involved were amazing and very sweet with this child. I am so grateful it ended well- it could have easily been a whole different outcome:( kids are sneaky- it could happen to anyone!! I wish we could all just be kind because we are all human. Let’s help each other and not judge each other so quickly.

UPDATE: 11:41 a.m. – The boy’s parents have been located, police confirmed, adding:

Thank you to everyone who helped circulate this information and alerted the parents that we had located their son. They realized their son was missing and were out actively circulating but had not yet alerted the police.

Wow, hard to comprehend that no one noticed their 5 yr old missing. Are the parents sleeping? Wake up! your kid is in the news.

They DID know their son was missing and they were actively looking for him.
They hadn’t yet called the police.

might’ve been LDS with 13 kids. wouldn’t notice if 1 or 2 was missin’

    • ladybugavenger October 29, 2015 at 1:56 pm

With that many kids, no one would notice one or two missing, until the head count.

      Ignorant remark.

WHY would publishers use a “NOT the actual child” photo ?
How many people read the tiny print saying ‘stock photo’ ?

Most people are speed reading ( headline & pic )
and would be on the look out for THAT boy .

    Very POORLY thought out . . .
Use the real pic or a location pic , NOT a false pic of a child .

We agree in retrospect, knobe. It was done in the urgency of the moment, I don’t expect we’ll do that again.
Thank you for your input, I appreciate it.
