ST. GEORGE — A mother and her two children were involved in an accident Wednesday afternoon when their car collided with two others at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Mall Drive in St. George.
A black Kia Soul was traveling eastbound on Riverside Drive in the outside lane and ran the red light, St. George Police Sgt. Rich Triplett said. The Kia collided with a white Nissan Rogue that was traveling northbound on Mall Drive and turning right.
Triplett said the Nissan ricocheted into a maroon Ford passenger car that was turning left onto Mall Drive southbound. The Kia and Nissan ended up tangled together on the sidewalk in front of Goldenwest Credit Union, while the Ford driver was able to pull off on Mall Drive by Maverik.
A mother and two children were the occupants of the Kia, Triplett said. The Nissan and Ford each had two people in them.
No injuries were reported, though major damage was sustained by all the vehicles, and Triplett said all would be towed from the accident scene.
The driver of the Kia was cited for a red light violation.
Traffic was slowed for about 45 minutes while investigation was conducted and cleanup of the accident was done.
Units from the St. George Police Department, the St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Excellent point, Common Sense. Let’s call it like it is rather than putting a spin on it. Where’s the effort to put some responsibility on the party that created this situation. I feel bad for the gal, but let’s be honest. She had two kids in the car and wasn’t driving responsibility.
Running a red light With children in the car AND causing major damage to Two other vehicles ?
My guess is the driver will NOT be able to afford their New insurance policy rates for a long long time .
Hopefully bus service will meet her future needs .
So article should read “Mom with two kids in car causes three car accident by running red light.”

I hope the “Cold Beer Vault Inside” sign had nothing to do with this.
