ST. GEORGE – Following too close behind another vehicle resulted in a three-vehicle collision on St. George Boulevard Monday afternoon, causing two vehicles to be towed and impeding traffic.

Just after 3 p.m., units were dispatched to St. George Boulevard near 700 East where three vehicles involved in a collision were blocking the right-hand lane, St. George Police Officer James Schafer said.

The collision was set in motion, he said, when a silver Honda sedan was following too close to a black Lexus SUV positioned directly behind a mid-size truck.

As traffic slowed due to congestion, the truck reduced speed quickly, as did the Lexus. The driver of the Honda failed to slow their car in time, and hit the Lexus from the rear, pushing it directly into the rear of the truck.

While no injuries were reported, Schafer said, both the Honda and Lexus had extensive front-end damage as a result of the crash and were towed from the scene. The truck sustained minor damage and was driven from the intersection.

The driver of the Honda was issued a citation for following too close, Schafer said.

Traffic was backed up for about an hour as emergency personnel tended to the scene.

St. George Police Department, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

your totally right about a source of income for the city, but the sad part is, the cops are too busy responding to the other idiotic accidents that involve cell phones and no directionals.
