St. George advisor receives national honor; retirement, a personal journey

ST. GEORGE – Retirement. It’s something many look forward to and others dread. To Eric Scott, retirement is not a destination, an end-goal, but a journey – a journey that is different for every person and, as journeys will do, leaves each with their own story to tell.

This viewpoint impacts Eric Scott’s practice as a financial and retirement advisor and is, perhaps, the guiding principal that propelled him to national recognition as “2015 Retirement Advisor of the Year.” by “Retirement Advisor Magazine,” a nationally recognized publication in the financial industry.

Eric Scott has been called a storyteller using anecdotes from his own life and his family to connect with the people he serves and to engage his radio audience. He is also the founder and president of Eric Scott Financial in St. George.

Eric Scott is about life’s journeys and attributes the honor of “Retirement Advisor of the Year” and much of his success to his family, with whom he navigates life: To his wife. Sherri Scott, for her love and support; and to his parents, who instilled in him the value of education and hard work.

Since Eric Scott began his career in the financial industry in 1983, he attends several educational trainings each year to keep up-to-date on financial matters.

Besides educating himself, Eric Scott shares his knowledge with clients and the community through educational classes, a radio program called “Financial Crossroads” every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. on KDXU 890 AM, and through retirement planning books he has written and published with the help of his son Paul Scott.

The first book, “The Five Crossroads,” focuses on how to help people reduce taxes, increase their retirement income, analyze their risk comfort level, design a budget, eliminate their debts and pass on a legacy that holds personal meaning.

The second book, “Shattering IRA Misconceptions,” focuses on the several myths surrounding individual retirement accounts, or IRAs, and similar accounts.

You can purchase Eric Scott’s books online at Amazon.com or call his office to learn how you can qualify for a free copy.
