Man arrested following alleged assault

HURRICANE — A 27-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday following an alleged assault.

Around 2:45 a.m., Todd Ealey was arrested in the area of 5800 W. Old Hwy. 91 after a woman told police he had allegedly beaten her, according to a probable cause statement.

The alleged victim said Ealey punched her in the face and choked her with his arm.

“The victim stated that she was choked unconscious and believed she was going to die,” the arresting police officer wrote in the statement.

When the woman woke up, Ealey was holding her down and ignored pleas to let her go, she said in the statement.

The police report did not detail how the woman was able to separate herself from Ealey.

As the woman talked to police about the incident, the arresting officer noted the she had wounds and cuts on her face and that her shirt was covered in drying blood, the statement said.

Officers made contact with Ealey and arrested him. He was subsequently booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility and charged with a third-degree felony for aggravated assault and a class B misdemeanor for unlawful detention.

Ealey has since been released on bail, according to court information.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Not the whole story? With this information given I’m not convinced she didn’t beat herself up. Did they know each other? How did she get free from his choke hold? A sgory that has more questions than answers is not newsworthy.

i srrsly am stunned at some people? given that, I feel terrible for the victim of this atrocious attack, to think you are going to die is something that never ever leaves you.. the attack is not as horrid as finding out A. you are as weak as you really are (ladies get some self defense behind you) and B. that a common person in your life is willing to end all your mothers hard work.. i’m still seriously stunned every time i read an assault article.. This guy should get attempted murder, he has no way of knowing if she will come back from strangulation… he got off lucky.

forgot to add, i still pray that someday they will find a cure for the madness that consumes someone to attack. we are all Gods children.. many of these ppl go to prison and get well, others get worse. if we could heal them, we could stop attacks.

it appears just that fact alone that she had some spotty memory loss is even more proof she’s telling the truth. I do feel badly for witches that lie about stuff like this and God will tend to those fading flowers, but usually its the other way around.. there are very specific threshholds one must pass thru during a violent attack and after and the attacker too.. giving too much public information to early on could harm a court case.
