Bonfire Music Festival promises all-night fun

SHIVWITS RESERVATION — The Heart of Dixie is planning their biggest event yet: a full evening of music, bonfire dancing, vendors and camping on a 20-acre ranch located just outside St. George.

The event will take place Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. the next day, on Piute Indian Shivwits Tribe-owned land. Party-goers who plan to stay the night can bring camping gear at no extra cost.

“We have put a lot of money and energy into the development of this venue so that the environment will be very welcoming and inviting,” organizer Jared Keddington said.

Attendees must be over 18 years old to enter the festival and 21 years or older to drink. Anyone planning to drink will need to BYOB, as no alcoholic beverages will be sold at the event. Anyone in possession of alcohol must provide proof of age upon entering.

Music will be provided by DJ Bangarang, Misterkay, Jshades and more.

Attendees will get a variety of music throughout the night,” Keddington said.

One thing organizers are excited about is that a portion of the proceeds from the event will be going toward the small community that resides on the reservation.

Pre-sale tickets are $10. Tickets sold at the gate will be $15, plus tax, and must be paid for in cash.

“I honestly believe it will be one of the biggest events we’ve produced here,” Keddington said. “I think people are really going to enjoy it.”

This event will probably be a one time thing. Music, drinking, young kids, all night, reservation, yup it sounds like a perfect recipe for disaster. I bet the Ivins cops will be busy.

That’s no way to talk to a lady …. Would your Bishop condone such vulgar behavior? Come on Mesa, grow up a little and be a gentleman.

We have something in common Terry. You can’t tell from our names if we’re male or female.

Is Terry like the Julia Sweeney character on SNL, Pat? An unattractive a-sexual person that we don’t know if it’s a he or a she?

It’s never gonna happen. A man his age should never behave this way…

The booze and the drugs along with the people that drink and and the drug users will make an appearance.. I think I’ll just stay away from the show.

Sad that the Shivwits have decided to support an event where people think they can only have fun if they are high on alcohol. And you are allowing under 21s to be there? Like most everyone has said, this is a poor decision.

If you want to get high, lock yourself in your home. And keep the noise down.

What is sad, Steve-o, is that the church and it’s members think they can dictate to other Adults what they should do for fun. Not every event has to be G-rated and family-friendly. What we really need is the Shivwits to put up a casino, with restaurants and bars and showrooms with non Disney-type entertainment. And I know, if I don’t like it here, I can leave.

I’m all for a casino! Sounds good munchie ..the problem with this event is tht they are mixing alcohol with minors. You know this town, people can’t have fun, they will end up on bookings. And that’s why I’m against my 19 yr old going. She’d probably drink and end up on bookings. Just sayin’ I was 19 but back then in the 80’s we got to enjoy the thrill of a party….times have changed and this is Utah! Again, I’m all for a casino 🙂 and free drinks while gambling! That’s some good ole adult fun 🙂 public annpuncement: always have a designated driver, drink responsibly. Don’t drink and drive!

You are amazingly ignorant, Stevesgu. In case you didn’t know, alcoholic beverages are legal in Utah, as is their consumption. Nothing in the promotion of this event encourages overconsumption. In fact, by allowing camping onsite for no cost, the promoters are providing an alternative to driving for anyone who does consume too much. The decision to drink alcohol does not imply the decision to get drunk. Get back to your viewing of conference, and let the rest of us deal with the real world.

Looks like a revenue maker for the police who will patrol 91. We need to keep our roads safe. Hope they have coverage out there for fire as the venue may be outside of Ivins…

  • JOSH DALTON October 3, 2015 at 7:35 am

I hope Washington County updated the server on the bookings page. The bookings are going to be full of minor consumptions, DUI, contributing to the delinquency of minors, possession of controlled substance, and there might be a few rape charges as well. I should warn anybody in their 30’s just to stay away from this place. Its going to reek of ax body spray, and riddled with tight jeans, boating loafers, striped tank tops and ridiculous colored sunglasses. I might go out there Sunday morning with a metal detector so I can find all the lost Iphones and tablets. GO FALCONS!!

Will it be like a rave with bad music or what? Is crazyeyes eddy gonna bring enough meth this time?
