Water restrictions in effect for Cedar City

CEDAR CITY – Cedar City Corporation has sent out a reminder in the mayor’s newsletter this month informing residents of continued water restrictions in Cedar City until the end of October.

“Please do not irrigate your lawn/yard with culinary water between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.,” the mayor’s newsletter stated.

Culinary water is basically potable drinking water that comes through the tap, Steven Barr with the Cedar City Water Division said.

“In Cedar City we don’t have other than the parks, the college and some of the schools who use the water from the reservoir many water sources that are not potable drinking water,” he said.

Secondary water would be water that flows through drains and ditches, Barr said; these restrictions do not apply to secondary water sources.
