ST. GEORGE — The future of a local golf course and hundreds of homes surrounding it will be the topic of a public meeting Thursday night in Bloomington. A team led by developer Darcy Stewart will present plans for a revitalization of the Bloomington Country Club.
Any member of the public with an interest in the future of the golf course is encouraged to attend the meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Bloomington Elementary School, 425 Man O War Road in St. George.
Plans for construction of additional resort-style condominiums, town houses and single-family residences, as well as improvements to the club, will be reviewed and discussed.
Future development may impact some homeowners’ views of the golf course, Gail Maxwell, a member of the Bloomington Community Council, said. However, the future of the course, Southern Utah’s first private country club, may hang in the balance, Maxwell said, as membership has declined over the years.
The project is still in its early stages and will require zoning changes and planning commission approval to move forward. Maxwell said the Bloomington council was in favor of the project as it has been presented so far, but no formal vote of the council has been taken.
