ST. GEORGE – A two-car accident triggered by failure to yield blocked traffic on River Road in St. George Friday afternoon and left one woman injured.
Police received the initial call at 1:25 p.m. regarding an accident at the intersection of Riverside Drive and River Road, St. George Police Officer Lona Trombley said.
A woman driving a red Nissan Maxima was traveling south on River Road, and a silver 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a man in his early 20s was traveling north. As the vehicles approached the intersection, the light changed.
“He had the green light, it turned yellow, and he was coming through the intersection and she turned in front of him,” Trombley said.
The woman in the Maxima suffered injuries to her head and neck as a result of the collision and was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center.
The driver of the Maxima is being cited for failure to yield on a left-hand turn, Trombley said. A female passenger in the vehicle was not injured.
The driver of the pickup truck was injured by the airbag deployment but was not transported to the hospital, Trombley said.
The airbags in both vehicles deployed, and the Maxima sustained enough damage that it had to be towed from the scene.
The northbound lanes of River Road were blocked by the accident, and traffic was directed left onto westbound Riverside Drive for a time. The accident was cleared by 2 p.m., Trombley said.

more than likely the light went from yellow to red and the pickup blasted thru it anyways. See that more often than not
wait for the light to turn solid red before making your left turn and ALWAYS ALWAYS keep your temple recommend on you at all times….
