ST. GEORGE – Rodeo action delivered on its promise of thrills and excitement Thursday during opening night of the Dixie Roundup. The capacity crowd saw top rides from Richard Champion and Mason Clements in the bareback competition, Taos Muncy in the saddle broncs and Tim Bingham in bull riding (see full results below). Top stock from the Bar T Rodeo drew gasps from the crowd during the many wild rides.
The competition continues tonight with more top cowboys expected from the Wilderness Circuit including the Wright brothers, Jesse and Jake, competing in the saddle broncs along with Coburn Bradshaw. Tyler Bingham is on the schedule for bull riding and Bryan Jones, Ethan McNeill and Iceman Dunbar are set for the bareback competition.
Tonight is “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night at the Roundup. One dollar from each ticket will be donated to the local Intermountain Healthcare Foundation Breast Cancer Awareness Program. Spectators are encouraged to wear pink in support of this cause.
Fans of the annual rodeo parade are reminded that the parade schedule has changed. The procession will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. The event has moved from its traditional 5 p.m. start time.
Gates open at 6 p.m. for tonight’s rodeo. Tickets are available at the gate.
