MESQUITE, Nev. — At its Sept. 8, meeting, the Mesquite City Council approved the selection of Meadow Valley Contractors, Inc. to construct the Exit 118 Interchange project on Interstate 15. The contractor will start work upon official notice to proceed, anticipated this fall.
The design-build project, funded by Clark County Fuel Revenue Indexing through the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, is expected to boost the local economy upon completion in summer 2016. It includes the construction of a diamond interchange at Milepost 118 and the extension of Lower Flat Top Drive to connect with the new interchange.
With the interchange, commercial vehicles will have a direct route to the Mesquite Technology and Commerce Center, increasing the efficiency of deliveries and drop-offs and revitalizing local economic development. It is also anticipated that the project will help keep tractor-trailers off the community’s thoroughfares and arterials, freeing up those roads to commuter traffic.
